Sydney Lee – Co-Host

I’ve loved horror movies (and movies in general) since I was a kid. There’s nothing like the rush of fear and intensity that comes from horror, which you can’t get from any other genre of movie. I also love writing, reading, thinking about death, baking, and trying to watch every movie known to man. I have a cat named Suki who is my child that I birthed and I love her more than myself. I’m from Boston and my favorite color is pink.

My Favorite Kinds of Horror

Found footage is my favorite kind of horror. There is a level of suspense that terrifies me when a person is holding a camera, seemingly unsure of what’s gonna happen next. I also love thriller horrors that make no sense and then you find out they have been dead the whole time. Also, classic slashers or basically anything from the 70s. And zombie movies are always a good time. Or anything absolutely absurd and Lynchian. I think I just love all horror movies.

Some of my favorite horror movies are:

  • The People Under the Stairs
  • The Blair Witch Project
  • The Evil Dead
  • Hereditary
  • The Witch
  • The Lighthouse
  • The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
  • American Psycho
  • Grave Encounters
  • Quarantine
  • Hell House LLC
  • Train to Busan

My Least Favorite Kinds of Horror

I don’t love the whole there’s a demon/possession type movies. They all have the same basic formula and nothing will ever compare to the original Exorcist so I don’t know why people keep trying.

How I Got Into Horror

The first horror movie I ever saw was shown to me by my dad. I was 12, which my dad made a rule in our family that at 12 years old you need to start watching horror. We watched Saw because it wasn’t “that scary, more gore than anything” my dad said, and I was terrified but I was hooked immediately. We then always watched horror movies together on Friday nights; we would scroll through Xfinity On Demand until we found a good, or terrible, free movie to watch. The last horror movie I showed my dad was Talk to Me, just a few months before he died. Rest in the sweetest peace Dad, without you I would not love film, I would not have this podcast, I would not have anything.
